Whew sorry for the large mini hiatus I took! It was a crazy weekend with my mom here to visit and then a million other thinks. I planned on writing a post on Friday before my mom caught here, but then I ended up dealing with stupid Wells Fargo instead womp womp... And then yesterday, well yesterday was just a Monday and I didn't have my shit together! By the time my mom left it was 7:30 and I was already too late for yoga and I needed to shower so I didn't really have time to run, aaaaaaaaaaanndd instead of writing a post I decided I needed a 30 minute nap, so there you have it! But I didn't totally fall off the bandwagon I have had a productive few days!
Friday my mom and I had an awesome lunch at a place I had never been to (only plus of dealing with the dumb bank for 2+ hours was the lunch suggestion), then packed the pooch up and dropped him off at the kennel, and headed to Colorado. We shopped till we dropped and I got some really cute springy clothes. Then we indulged in a little pre-Cinco De Mayo dinner (perfect pre race dinner right?), where I may of fallen off the bandwagon a lot a little with all the chips and salsa/queso I ate... Whoops! I love Mexican, what can I say!!! And in my defense I don't even remember the last time I had queso! After dinner we headed over to a friend of my Mom's house where we stayed up late being Chatty Kathies. We woke up about 6 am to get in some more chatting, and my mom's friend was a wonderful hostess! She had some yummy greek yogurt (a brand I had never heard of and I wished I remembered now!), a beautiful fruit salad, orange juice, and coffee (chai for me because I'm a wimp without my creamer) ready for us. We left her house a little before 8:30 to get to our race. We were in the 10:45 heat wave, but it was about an hour there and we wanted to be an hour early, plus we had to make a pit stop at Wal-Mart to exchange the tank tops I had gotten because it was WAAAAY too cold for those suckers!
Once we got the shirt situation sorted out we made it to the race in no time. We arrived with plenty of time, the race was easy to find, and parking was a breeze (but I guess when you pay 10 bucks it better be!). We put our tutu's on and headed for the start area. After some minor wondering we found the area to get our bibs, and there was virtually no line. We wondered around the booths for a little bit, and then I decided a potty pit stop would be a good choice (yes I used a porta potty for the SECOND time). All in all the race was REALLY well organized and I was impressed. There was music and lots of booths and they had zumba going at the start area, they did a really good job with it and I would HIGHLY recommend the race if you have one in your area! We found a group of my friends who were also running it, and also in our heat wave and hung out with them.
We accidently tried to start in the 10:30 heat wave, so we ended up right in the front of the 10:45 heat wave. I would say there were about 50-60 people in each wave. It wasn't super crowded and we got to the first obstacle and there was no wait. We had ended up a ways in front of my friends so after the first obstacle we stopped to wait. We chose just to do it for fun and didn't have our run timed (which I'm super glad about because when I checked the results in my age group there were 72 girls and I would of been like 67th I'm guessing which would of been depressing haha). Once they caught up to us we started again, but we ended up losing them and chose to just keep going without em. We really never had to wait at any of the obstacles, and a lot of the obstacles were really fun! The volunteers and people who put on the race were really awesome! The bibs had our name on them so when we would get to the obstacle the race helpers would cheer you on by name which made if feel super personable. I really have nothing bad to say about the race it was really fun, really well ran, really positive, and the locations was super pretty! There were photographers at the obstacles, so I'm hoping when they post the pictures there will be some I can share with you! But for now all I have is 2 of us before the race.
And my friends group winning at tug-a-war
I planned on making this a much longer post, but this girl has been up since 4:45, and needs to be up early again tomorrow to get my work out in so for now this is all I got! I will fill you in on the rest tomorrow I promise!
